How JT Rides collects, uses and safeguards your information across our ride-hailing and delivery apps.

Last updated: June 13, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to JT Rides. JT Rides ("we", "us" or "our") operates the JT Rides mobile applications for riders, drivers and delivery partners (available on the Apple App Store and Google Play), together with the website at www.jtrides.com (collectively, the "Service").

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and safeguard information that results from your use of the Service. By creating an account, requesting a ride, accepting a trip, sending a package or otherwise using JT Rides, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Our Terms of Service govern all use of the Service and, together with this Privacy Policy, constitute your agreement with us.

2. Definitions

SERVICE means the JT Rides ride-hailing and delivery platform — including the Rider app, Driver app and the website www.jtrides.com — operated by JT Rides.

PERSONAL DATA means data about a living individual who can be identified from those data (or from those and other information in our possession).

USAGE DATA is data collected automatically, generated by use of the Service or from the Service infrastructure itself (for example, trip duration or app session length).

LOCATION DATA means precise or approximate location information collected from your device to match riders with drivers, calculate fares, route trips and complete deliveries.

COOKIES are small files stored on your device (computer or mobile device).

DATA CONTROLLER means a person who determines the purposes and manner of processing personal data. For this Privacy Policy, JT Rides is the Data Controller.

DATA PROCESSORS means any person who processes data on behalf of the Data Controller, such as payment processors, mapping providers and cloud hosting providers.

THE USER is any individual using our Service — including riders, drivers, delivery partners and senders/recipients of packages.

3. Information Collection and Use

We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service — to match you with a nearby driver, complete trips and deliveries safely, calculate fares, process payments and keep our community safe.

4. Types of Data Collected

Personal Data. While using the Service we may ask you to provide personally identifiable information, which may include:

  • First and last name
  • Email address and phone number
  • Profile photo
  • Date of birth (for age verification)
  • Home, work and saved addresses
  • Payment information (card details are tokenised and handled by our payment processor)
  • For drivers and delivery partners: government-issued ID, driver's licence, vehicle registration, insurance documents, bank account details for payouts and a background check authorisation

Cookies and Usage Data

Usage Data. We collect information your device sends when you use the Service, such as IP address, device type and model, operating system, app version, unique device identifiers, crash reports, pages or screens visited, time spent, and other diagnostic data.

Location Data. With your permission, we collect precise location from your device to show nearby drivers, pick you up at the right place, navigate trips and deliveries, calculate fares and ETAs, provide trip-sharing and emergency assistance, and improve safety and routing. Driver and delivery-partner apps collect location continuously while the app is on duty (including in the background) so we can match trips, navigate and verify completed jobs. You can enable or disable location services at any time in your device settings; some features will not work without it.

Contacts (optional). If you grant permission, we access your device contacts so you can quickly send a trip status to friends or family. We do not upload your full contact list to our servers.

Camera and Photos (optional). Used for profile photos, scanning documents, and (for drivers/delivery partners) proof-of-delivery photos.

Microphone (optional). Used only when you initiate in-app voice features or choose to record audio for safety.

Tracking Cookies Data. We use cookies and similar tracking technologies (beacons, tags, SDKs) to track activity on the Service and remember preferences. Examples:

  • Session Cookies: To operate the Service.
  • Preference Cookies: To remember your settings.
  • Security Cookies: For fraud and abuse prevention.
  • Analytics Cookies: To understand how the Service is used and improve it.

5. Use of Data

JT Rides uses the collected data for the following purposes:

  • To provide, maintain and operate the ride-hailing and delivery Service;
  • To match riders, drivers and delivery partners and route trips;
  • To calculate fares, process payments and pay out drivers;
  • To verify driver and delivery-partner identity, documents and eligibility;
  • To provide customer support and resolve incidents;
  • To send service notifications (trip status, receipts, account updates);
  • To improve safety — including SOS, trip sharing, fraud and abuse detection;
  • To monitor usage and detect, prevent and address technical issues;
  • To send you news, promotions, offers and information about similar services (you can opt out at any time);
  • To carry out our obligations and enforce our rights under contracts with you;
  • To comply with legal obligations, court orders and lawful requests from authorities.

6. Retention of Data

We retain your Personal Data only as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. Trip records and payment receipts are retained for the period required by applicable tax, accounting and transport regulations.

Usage Data is generally retained for a shorter period, except when used to strengthen security or improve functionality, or when we are legally required to retain it longer.

7. Transfer of Data

Your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to — and maintained on — servers located outside your state, province or country where data protection laws may differ from yours.

If you are located outside Nigeria and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer and process the data in Nigeria and other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. Your submission of information represents your agreement to that transfer. JT Rides takes all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

8. Disclosure of Data

We may disclose Personal Data:

  • Between users: To complete a trip or delivery. Riders see the driver's first name, photo, vehicle and rating; drivers see the rider's first name, pickup, destination and rating.
  • Business transactions: In a merger, acquisition or asset sale, your Personal Data may be transferred.
  • Service providers: Payment processors, mapping and routing providers, cloud hosting, SMS and email providers, background-check vendors, analytics and crash reporting tools.
  • Affiliates and subsidiaries.
  • Law enforcement and authorities: When required by law or to protect the rights, property or safety of JT Rides, our users or the public.
  • With your consent in any other case.

9. Security of Data

The security of your data is important to us. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, tokenise card data through PCI-compliant payment processors and apply strict access controls. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your Data Protection Rights (GDPR)

If you are a resident of the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights under the GDPR. In certain circumstances you have the right to:

  • Access, update or delete the information we hold about you;

  • Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent to process your information.

We may ask you to verify your identity before responding. You also have the right to complain to a Data Protection Authority in the EEA.

Do Not Track Signals: We honour Do Not Track signals and do not track, plant cookies or use advertising when a Do Not Track browser mechanism is in place.

12. Children's Privacy

JT Rides is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 18. If you become aware that a child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us and we will take steps to remove that information and terminate the child's account.

13. Permissions on Mobile Devices

The JT Rides apps request the following device permissions. You can grant or revoke them at any time in your device settings:

  • Location (foreground and background): To match trips, navigate and complete deliveries. Background location is used by the Driver and Delivery Partner apps while on duty.
  • Camera: Profile photos, document scanning, proof-of-delivery.
  • Photos / Media: To upload a profile photo or documents.
  • Microphone: For in-app voice features and optional safety recording.
  • Notifications: Trip status, driver arrival and account alerts.
  • Contacts (optional): To share trip status with a friend.
  • Phone: To start a masked call with your driver or rider.

14. Third-Party Services

We rely on trusted third parties to run the Service, including mapping and routing providers, payment processors, SMS and email gateways, cloud hosting, analytics and crash reporting. Each provider is bound by contractual obligations to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we specify.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. For material changes we will also notify you by email or in-app notification. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
